Metaverse Concert Platform Wave Launches First NFTs With Teflon Sega, OneOf

Virtual metaverse concerts have remained popular even amid the return of in-person events, with rising and major artists alike continuing to look for new ways to interact with their fanbase and reach new audiences.

Interactive concert platform Wave is one of the many platforms enabling these virtual experiences and has hosted performances by major stars over the past few months, including Justin Bieber. Wave is now going a step further into the Web3 space with the launch of its first NFT collection for Teflon Sega’s upcoming performance, in partnership with NFT marketplace OneOf.

Teflon Sega is a natural choice to partner on Wave’s first NFT drop as he is a virtual artist — he began as an anime character and has now transitioned to a 3D avatar form. He hosted his first virtual show on Wave, Dimensions Vol. 1, back in March, with the follow-up Vol. 2 airing this Thursday.

According to the event description, Teflon will continue “his musical journey venturing deeper into a more abstract part of his metaverse. As with all Wave shows, it will also include interactive elements, such as virtual expressions, live chat, and a Q&A with the artist after the show.

Wave dropped its first NFTs — one-of-a-kind concert posters — last week, sending one to all fans who attended the first show for free. Those who attend this week’s live show will also receive a free concert poster NFT. The NFT also includes early access to Wave’s beta program and Wave whitelist status for future drops.

“As a creator-centric and fan-forward company, we want to leverage innovative Web3 technologies to forge stronger artist-fan connections and superserve our core fans who want more touch points from the Wave experience,” said Wave CEO and co-founder Adam Arrigo in a statement. “This moment is for Teflon Sega fans and Wave supporters who have been with us from the beginning. Their belief in our mission and what we do is what allows us to continue to push the industry forward in creating the future of virtual entertainment and the metaverse.”
