Proto Installs First Hologram Device in France for Meetings, Events, and More

Throughout the past few years, Proto Inc.’s holograms (formerly PORTL) have been popping up at events and activations around the world. The company’s incredible holoportation technology enables anyone to beam themselves into a Proto device anywhere in the world with a simple setup and interact with others in real time. Proto also recently launched a smartphone app allowing for even easier beaming using only the phone’s camera.

Proto’s holoportation devices have been installed in several hotels and meeting spaces around the world to facilitate remote communication. A new one has now officially been installed in Paris — the first ever in France — at La Maison Le Dix, through a partnership with Groupe Hervé.

The 19th century mansion, located near the Eiffel Tower, is being reimagined as a “new kind of luxury space…a smart building where a unique experience brimming with sensations will be encountered by its esteemed guests,” according to a release, and the Proto device has already been utilized by executives beaming in from LA for intercontinental meetings.

Proto was previously used in France at amfAR’s Cannes gala in 2021, but this marks the first permanent installation in the country. The newly designed La Maison Le Dix is set to open by the end of the year and will offer custom events including concerts, meetings, and trainings, and will also be available for private bookings.

The space will be designed to be innovative and energy efficient with digital technology at the forefront, which is where Proto comes in. Groupe Hervé also states that the conference rooms will be outfitted with advanced touch screens, among other things, to provide the best experience possible for guests.

As more and more holoportation devices are installed around the world, event organizers of all sizes will be able to leverage the technology and create truly unique experiences without necessarily needing to purchase or rent the device themselves, which is an exciting prospect for the future.

Karien Hervé, VP of the Groupe Hervé, explained that “By creating ‘La Maison Le Dix’ and implanting the Proto technology in France, we wished to establish a real connection between individuals, give a human dimension to technology, reconcile the digital and human by transmitting emotions through this hologram. It is nothing like the multiple video conferences we have experienced in the last months. It is, today, about creating encounters, synergies between people when physical proximity is not possible at a given time.”

Proto CEO David Nussbaum added: “When we met Karien Hervé and heard about the plans for this incredible hybrid space melding history, innovation and style, and above all else, devoted to fostering the highest quality of human connection — we knew we’d found a partner for the launch of Proto in France. Now when I have a meeting in Paris, I can beam there in an instant.”
