Live Nation’s ‘Concert Week’ Sees Record Demand for Tickets

This year, for the first time since 2019, live entertainment giant Live Nation brought back its annual Concert Week promo, which takes place in the spring and gives fans access to tickets for thousands of Live Nation shows at an affordable flat rate. In 2019, the last time Concert Week was held, tickets were $20, but the price was increased to $25 this year.

Despite the price increase, Live Nation is reporting that it sold a record number of tickets during 2022’s Concert Week — surpassing 2019’s previous record — which is notable given that rapid inflation is impacting consumers’ spending power and is a strong indicator of the pent-up demand for live events.

More than 2.2 million tickets were sold in the one-week span in May, and Live Nation also shared that 26 percent of buyers purchased tickets for two or more participating shows.

“The record breaking sales for Live Nation’s Concert Week show that demand for live events is at an all-time high,” said Kelly Strickland, Senior Vice President, US Concerts Tour Marketing, in a statement. “We have seen that fans are willing to spend money on seeing the artists they love live over any other entertainment option out there.”

This isn’t the only record Live Nation is breaking this year — the company also reported that Live Nation UK will be hosting almost 6 million fans at events throughout June, July, and August, which will make for the subsidiary’s biggest summer ever.

Fans will be attending over 100 events throughout the UK, including five new festivals and editions that Live Nation will be offering for the first time in the region this year. Of the estimated 6 million fans flocking to these events, 4 million will be attending a festival or outdoor event, and nearly 2 million will be going to indoor shows.

Hundreds of thousands of fans have already attended the Parklife and Download festivals, among others, and if the numbers for the rest of the summer are on par with what is expected, they will also break 2019 records, making for an exciting post-pandemic return this year.
