VSef Announces Updated Event Data Standards

VSef, the Virtual Standard Export Format, was launched last year by Explori and industry partners to help organizers better manage the vast amounts of event data collected by virtual platforms by creating a unified data format that platforms can use in their reporting.

After a year of testing and feedback, VSef has announced the second iteration of its data standards, VSef 2.0, which is now available for use by its partner organizers and event platforms. Leveraging feedback from the event community, the team behind VSef has evolved the data standards and added new features to further streamline and facilitate data management and analysis across the industry.

These include enhanced language capabilities for organizers who need to manage data in multiple languages, refined data from exhibitor and sponsor directories, and improved management of customized data fields.

VSef 2.0 also adds new, much-needed API standards that will enable organizers to easily move their data from event platforms into their own sales and marketing systems.

“We are delighted to have had so much support from our founding partners, which has allowed us to refine and evolve VSef 2.0 to better meet the needs of event organisers,” said Mark Brewster, Founder & CEO of Explori and VSef, in a statement. “When we launched VSef our aim was to eliminate silos of data gathered by event platforms which were creating barriers to learning, progress and ultimately failing to deliver a better event experience for attendees.”

He continued, “By creating a universal data format that enables events to consume consistent data regardless of which platform they are working with, we are endeavouring to allow organisers to benefit from wider industry insights, ultimately using data to improve virtual and hybrid events. Refining the standards allows us to move closer to that vision.”
