ICC Sydney Makes Further Improvements to Tech Infrastructure

Investment in technology will continue to be key for convention centers to remain competitive in the post-pandemic events space as organizations increasingly rely on technology for hybrid meetings and events, as well as to create more immersive and experiential events that audiences are craving.

Australia’s International Convention Center Sydney recently invested an additional A$1.53 million (~$1.06 million) to further upgrade its technology inventory and future proof in-person events. Eventprofs may be happy to leave virtual platforms behind, but technology remains a key part of creating a successful event — whether in-person or online.

The investment aims to enhance in-person event delivery solutions and includes a variety of new AV equipment including 32K lumen laser projectors, projector screens, vision processing and control, cameras, moving light fixtures, audio and lighting consoles, and more.

This investment adds on to the venue’s recently expanded range of 2.9 millimeter pitch modular and customizable LED screens.

“ICC Sydney was purpose-built to cater for the changing architecture of meetings and through this investment it has evolved its event delivery capability to execute even better world class services for our diverse network of clients and visitors,” said ICC Sydney CEO Geoff Donaghy.

ICC Sydney will also do its part to support young technical professionals and ensure continued successful event outcomes at a time when the industry is experiencing a serious staffing shortage. Without experienced technicians, the technology doesn’t go very far.

"Adding to the learning and development opportunities available to the team through ICC Sydney’s Academy of Extraordinary, we are proud to have recently collaborated with vocational education providers to on-board seven AV trainees as part of our inaugural Professional Growth Traineeship Program,” said Brian Nash, ICC Sydney’s Director of Audio Visual Services.

“As we welcome a resurgence of local, national and international events, we are proud to further strengthen Sydney’s position as one of the world’s most desirable business events destinations, added Donaghy. “Working with the latest technology and the best people in the industry, the future possibilities for business and entertainment events are endless.”
